(CBR) “Marvel's Agent Carter” has made its first official cast additions beyond star Hayley Atwell: New series regulars Chad Michael Murray and Enver Gjokaj, as first revealed on Marvel.com. Both will play fellow agents in the Strategic Science Reserve: Murray, Agent Jack Thompson; Gjokaj, Agent Daniel Sousa. Both are new additions to Marvel lore not directly based on characters from previous comic book stories.
Murray starred in six seasons of “One Three Hill,” and has experience in the comics world, having co-written the original graphic novel “Everlast” for Archaia in 2011. Gjokaj is known for his work on “Dollhouse,” a series created by “Avengers” writer/director Joss Whedon. He also played a cop in the original “Avengers” film.
“Captain America: The First Avengers” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely wrote the “Agent Carter” pilot, which is expected to start production soon. The “Reaper” and “Resurrection” team of Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas will serve as showrunners. The show is slated to run for eight-episodes on ABC starting in early 2015, during the midseason break of “Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Here's the official logline of the series:
“Marvel's Agent Carter,” starring “Captain America's” Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It's 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.
