Nightmare Fuel, your weekly dose of horror here at HitFix, is back with another episode featuring Ashlee Blackwell, who offered such great insights last week I decided to bring her back for another round. For those not in the know, Ashlee is the founder of Graveyard Shift Sisters, a blog that's focused on “purging the black female horror fan from the margins,” according to the site's official Twitter.
Ashlee and I had a lot to talk about this week! For one, that visually lavish first trailer for Nicholas Winding Refn's The Neon Demon, a “supermodel horror” film starring Elle Fanning that boasts some definite Suspiria under(over?)tones.
Also on tap: The Mist TV series ordered by Spike (which opened up a conversation about the 2007 film version's divisive ending, which Ashlee liked far better than I), the latest sequels in the Underworld and Resident Evil franchises (which horror series got the sequel thing right?) and our thoughts on Karyn Kusama's critically-acclaimed new film The Invitation, which debuted in limited theaters last week and is currently available on VOD.
