This Father Inspiring His Daughter To Dance In The Street May Leave You In Tears

Forget twerking, this video of a girl gracefully dancing barefoot in the streets of Italy will inspire you to research an entirely new realm of instructional dance videos.

There’s not much context here, but that doesn’t take away from the video’s beauty. At the start of the recording, the girl’s father is heard encouraging her to dance. Shortly after he says, “Do it!” the girl twirls her way out of her sandals as a street performer plays Yann Tiersen’s “Comptine d’Un Autre Été,” which you might recognize from Amelie. With each leap and turn, the dancer’s green-gray dress shifts effortlessly in the wind until the song ends. The girl bows her appreciation to the musician and her father gives a “Woo!” as he pans to a small audience of clapping spectators.

The video was originally posted by the girl’s father, Assad Baransi about a year ago with the description, “Palestinian tourist dancing in Italy.” Since being posted again from a different account yesterday with the description, “A minute of happiness and peace in the world,” the video has racked up over 100,000 views and plenty of controversial comments.
