Fall is quickly approaching, and that means sweater weather and the annual rise of pumpkin-spice everything. Every year, people rush to Starbucks for the revered PSL (even though the salted caramel mocha is a million times better, but WHATEVER) and snatch up every ill-advised snack mashup that features the sweet strains of pumpkin. However, many have wondered if we’ve taken it too far. With our obsessive seasonal love, have we killed what once brought us so much delicious joy?
From the looks of things, yes. According to a new tweet from McDonald’s Japan, fans of this fall flavor can indulge in some unhealthy eats with the new Pumpkin Spice Fries, which feature chocolate drizzle and a florescent orange pumpkin sauce. While this baffling twist on the classic side item is not making its way stateside (although it would do gangbusters if it did), residents of Japan can try out this snack from Sept. 28 until Halloween. However, even if this concoction turns out to be totally delicious, one thing is clear: Pumpkin spice is dead. Long live pumpkin spice!
So, are you going to let this taste sensation sweeping the Japanese nation pass you by, or are you already packing your Ugg boots and booking a ticket to Tokyo?
