This Smiling Shark Is A Real-Life ‘Finding Nemo’ Character

Move over left shark from Katy Perry’s Super Bowl half-time show, there’s a new fish in town! An underwater photographer named Kenneth “Wayne” MacWilliams recently captured an alarmingly happy lemon shark off the coast of Juniper, Florida, and people are loving it.

Is it us or does this massive grin just scream “I’m guilty!”? The shark appears to be in on its own private joke. It’s probably thinking something along the lines of “Congrats, I may not be chomping your limbs off right now but I farted right where you’re swimming, lol.”

The smiley shark shares a striking resemblance to the rehab-attending, vegetarian shark named Bruce from Pixar’s “Finding Nemo.” Coincidentally (or not) Finding Dory will be in theaters June 17. Nice marketing tie-in Pixar!

Worth noting, there has never been a recorded fatality from a lemon shark although there are 10 unprovoked attacks on record. They mostly eat fish and crustaceans off the coast of Brazil, in the Gulf of Mexico and along the west coast of Africa.

The retiree who captured this blissful fish says when he saw the shark smiling it made him smile too. That’s wonderfully brave of him because if it were us, a smiling shark would probably result in sheer terror and panic.
