Early in the fight it looked like it would be another dominant victory for Jedrzejczyk as the champion pulled away on the shots landed stats. But she never managed to hurt Kowalkiewicz or extinguish her spirit. Kowalkiewicz came forward relentlessly, continuing to attack no matter how many punches, knees, and elbows she absorbed.
Kowalkiewicz’s biggest moment came in the fourth round when she managed to hit Jedrzejczyk with a straight right to the nose, wobbling the champ and sending her reeling. But she wasn’t able to follow up and capitalize. And in the fifth and final round Jedrzejczyk was once more in control, hitting Kowalkiewicz from all angles while ducking away from Karolina’s counters.
Everywhere Kowalkiewicz tried to attack, Jedrzejczyk was just a bit better. Standing in front of each other and trading, Jedrzejczyk was the clear victor. But after Kowalkiewicz got her against the fence she learned that Jedrzejczyk also had the advantage in the clinch as well. There wasn’t a position that Kowalkiewicz could capitalize on. But she did mess Jedrzejczyk’s nose up, so she’ll always have that.
