The MMA World Reacts To Jon Jones Being Pulled From UFC 200

Damn it, Jon Jones. You’re the best. I love Fedor, I love Anderson Silva. I even still love BJ Penn despite the heartbreak he’s put me through. But you’re the best fighter who has ever walked into the Octagon, and with this potential USADA anti-doping violation, you could be throwing away your prime years. The dismay. The dismay.

And so the MMA world weeps, pounds their fists and wonders why a 28-year-old demigod of combat could possibly throw away a huge UFC 200 payday and a chance to beat up his rival. We don’t know what Jon Jones popped for in an out-of-competition drug test on June 16th, but if it was steroids, his entire legacy is put into question. The MMA-verse knows this, and Twitter reacted appropriately.

Even the wrong Jon Jones is getting questions.

Some hoped there was time to appeal, but with Saturday rapidly approaching that option was nixed.

We know Jon Jones was a smoker, but he’s said he’s clean and sober. Could he be the next Diaz?

Perhaps not?

This week has already been crazy, and the fights are only beginning, but without a doubt, UFC 200 just got a whole lot weaker. Damn.
