While mixed martial arts fans are still trying to decide whether they got suckered by all the Ronda hype, pro wrestling fans still unabashedly love them some Ronda Rousey. That was very apparent on Monday night at the annual WWE Slammy Awards, where Rousey and The Rock won the ‘This is Awesome’ Moment of the Year Slammy.
Their moment stole the show at WrestleMania and featured The Rock pulling Ronda Rousey out of the crowd to confront The Authority, also known as Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, in the ring. After some back and forth jibba-jabba, Ronda ended up judo tossing Triple H and putting McMahon in a standing armlock. The crowd went wild, The Rock and Ronda Rousey departed victorious, and a WrestleMania moment was born.
The ‘This is Awesome’ Moment of the Year Slammy is awarded by fan vote. That means they liked it so much they considered it the best thing to happen in WWE for 2015, which is pretty crazy when you think about it: An MMA fighter stepped into the squared circle and made more waves than any of their superstars. No wonder WWE wants Ronda back for WrestleMania 32.
