Remember when former 007 Sir Roger Moore said Idris Elba wasn’t “English” enough to play James Bond? Oh yeah, that was yesterday. As soon as the internet’s torrential-hate-machine began revving its engines, Moore took to Twitter to clear things up:
An interview I gave to Paris Match implies I said something racist about Idris Elba. That is simply untrue. #Lost in translation.
— Sir Roger Moore (Legacy) (@sirrogermoore) March 28, 2015
Moore claims his comments were “lost in translation,” and suggests he never actually said anything racist about Elba. Either way, people can pick apart what Moore did and didn’t actually say all they want. And they will, because this is the internet.
However, all that matters are these two points:
- Daniel Craig is still on the job, so let’s not forget that.
- An 87-year-old English actor has (and presumably uses) Twitter.
