Vin Diesel, a lovable lunk not exactly known for his loquaciousness, is the subject of a #longread from Variety. You should read the whole thing, especially the part with his bold prediction for Furious 7: It’s “probably” going to win Best Picture at the Oscars.
I think Vin’s confusing Best Picture at the Academy Awards with the Troops Choice for Entertainment of the Year at the Spike Guys’ Choice Awards again.
“Universal is going to have the biggest movie in history with this movie,” Diesel said in a lengthy interview with Variety for this week’s cover story. “It will probably win Best Picture at the Oscars, unless the Oscars don’t want to be relevant ever.”
Diesel took a breath, before offering his prediction for a second time: “This will win Best Picture. There is nothing that will ever come close to the power of this thing.” (Via)
There’s been talk that the Oscars are going to scale back the number of Best Picture nominees to five, but that’s still two too many. After all, there are only three movies coming out this year that truly matter: Furious 7, Magic Mike XXL, and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip.
Has there ever been a three-way Best Picture tie?
