If you don’t like spoilers, then consider the fact that what will be revealed here will likely be common knowledge soon, because Kevin Smith is a motor-mouth auteur with a penchant for lengthy internet and radio monologues. The man really likes to talk, is what we’re saying.
While he’s busy in pre-production for Clerks 3 and Mallrats 2, Smith is currently scripting the third film in his Canadian series — following Tusk and Yoga Hosers — called Moose Jaws. He has gone on record to basically describe it as Jaws, but with a moose. Guess that could have been gleaned from the title. In an interview this week with Australian news site News.com.au, Smith let the proverbial cat out of the bag as to which character from his universe he would be killing in the third Canadian installment.
I just finished writing the scene where — spoilers — Silent Bob gets eaten by the moose. That’s how he f—ing goes out! Isn’t that fun? I was talking to Jay about Moose Jaws and I’m like, ‘I’m thinking about bringing us in as the Captain Quint character’. And he goes, ‘Yeah, but Quint gets killed!’ I was like, ‘One of us has to get eaten’. And he was like, ‘You. Not me’. I was like, ‘Why?’ And he was like, ‘Because I wanna be in other movies!’ Fair enough, dude.
That right, folks. Kevin Smith is killing himself off.
Silent Bob is an integral part of the Clerks and Mallrats shared universe, so we’ll likely get to see him in those sequels before he’s sent out to pasture. Knowing Smith’s affinity for Star Wars, though, we’ll probably see Silent Bob come back in the form of a hologram to impart some vital instructions to a character long after his physical form has perished, though.
