Adam Driver may be about to portray an intriguing villain in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and head back to HBO’s portrayal of Brooklyn for another season of Girls, as well as a slew of other projects, but the talented actor recently admitted that he could have gotten by in New York City on dumpster diving alone. At a TED talk this week, Driver discussed his head space after returning from his military service. According to Vulture, the actor confessed that he’d be just fine with this occupation:
“I thought all civilian problems were small compared to the military. What was I going to really b*tch about now? ‘It’s hot.’ ‘There’s so much dirt on the air conditioner.’ ‘This coffee line is too long’. I thought, This is great. I knew how to survive. I would go to New York and be an actor. And if things didn’t work out I would live in Central Park and Dumpster-dive behind Panera Bread.”
To think, if a few auditions had gone differently New Yorkers wandering around Sheep’s Meadow could have spotted Driver bunking under a tree for the night. Instead, he is one of the most talented young actors working right now and can have Panera Bread delivered to him whenever he wants. Though it’s good to know he’ll always have a solid backup plan if this whole acting thing doesn’t work out after all.
