Sure, Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller are on the promotional trail for Burnt, but Marvel is an unstoppable juggernaut that has a tendency to take over every aspect of cultural discussion. As Captain Marvel is currently (publicly) uncast, speculation over who will play Marvel’s first headlining female superhero is relentless.
In an interview with MTV International, Miller was asked if she is interested in playing the Avenger, and while she was unfamiliar with the character, she was on board. She quickly got the approval of Cooper, who is familiar with the universe after his turn as Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy. Miller’s last outing as a icon of geek lore was as The Baroness in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, and it seems like she is trying to put that flop behind her. Still, Miller has been picking some good projects lately, so an outing in the MCU would be a lucrative way to round things out.
At this point, every actress under 40 should have a stock answer regarding Captain Marvel, because they’ll probably be asked about it until the high flyer is officially cast.
