Losing sleep at night because you’re worried Harrison Ford hasn’t received a big fat paycheck for his work in Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Rest easy, you weirdo. The 73-year-old actor not only made major bank with his return to the franchise, but his haul also eclipsed that of his Episode VII co-stars.
According to Variety, their sources have Ford’s payday somewhere in the $15-20 million range and that’s a healthy chunk more than the six-figure salaries sorted out for the film’s other cast members. (Mind you, they aren’t Han Solo, now are they?) Earlier reports had Ford earning a whopping $25 million in his comeback role with the iconic series, but Variety pegs that number as a bit too boffo. By the way, Ford’s payday will only grow more and more once the back-end bonuses kick in.
It turns out the layout for how much stars like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill would get paid was put into motion last year.
In 2014, before Disney even began to make “The Force Awakens” offers to cast members, the studio made a decision to create a “legacy pay scale” intended for talent like Ford, Fisher and Hamill, who had previously been a part of the “Star Wars” universe, and general pay scale for actors that would be appearing for the first time.
We’ll give BB-8 a moment to consult with its agent.
