Bradley Cooper knows how to please Michael Ian Black in a shed (fictionally, of course), but he’s apparently clueless when it comes to Guardians of the Galaxy spoilers. Last month, B-Coops suggested that Thanos, as in Josh Brolin, is Star-Lord’s dad; writer and director James Gunn immediately shut the rumor down, tweeting, “Bradley Cooper didn’t reveal anything. He just got the script and hasn’t read it yet.”
So, who is playing Mr. Lord? Chris Pratt knows, but he’s too busy crying to reveal anything, and all Gunn will say is, “Peter Quill’s father is somebody different in the comics.” The Wrap has an intriguing guess. Big, if true.
Kurt Russell has emerged as James Gunn‘s choice to play Chris Pratt‘s father in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, multiple individuals familiar with the film’s casting process have told TheWrap. Marvel has not officially offered Russell the coveted part yet, nor has Russell read the script, but meetings are expected to take place soon. (Via)
Marvel folks are obviously refusing to comment, but the way Russell’s career has been going of late, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him as Papa Pratt. Between 2007-2014, the man they still call Snake Plissken only appeared in four movies. But he’s been on fire in 2015: Russell (who recently got in trouble for some comments he made about gun control) played Mr. Nobody in the mega-blockbuster Furious 7, and has a meaty role in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. Next year, he’ll star in Peter Berg’s Deepwater Horizon, alongside Mark Wahlberg, John Malkovich, and Kate Hudson.
No wonder he’s been trying to remain busy. Every minute spent working is another minute he doesn’t have to think about the Big Trouble in Little China remake.
