It’s officially December, which means Christmas will be here soon, which means A Christmas Story 24-hour marathons on TV will also be here soon. Despite opening in 1983 to only moderate success, A Christmas Story has been a staple of the holiday season for decades, thanks to its rediscovery on home video and cable TV. But what happened to the cast since then? Hopefully still getting kicked down slides by Santa. It just wouldn’t be Christmas without that.
It would be silly to start with anyone other than Peter Billingsley, who played the protagonist Ralphie, as he and his iconic quotes helped make the movie what it is today. He continued acting on through the ’80s and ’90s, and most recently he has found a home on Netflix as the executive producer of F Is For Family, a new animated series created by Bill Burr.
Ian Petrella (Randy) moved away from the acting world and works as an animator and puppeteer. He keeps the Christmas Story spirit alive, though, as he gifts a leg lamp to a store whose first had been stolen. Zack Ward, who starred as the bully Scut Farkus, has appeared to pop up in a variety of movies and TV shows, such as Lost and Almost Famous. Shaking his bullying persona, Ward even works as a strong anti-bullying advocate. Scott Schwartz (Flick) also continued his acting career, including appearing in multiple adult films in the ’90s. He currently stars in The Comeback Kids, a series about former child stars.
