Neill Blomkamp made a lot of waves when he released his concept art for an unmade Alien film on Instagram, earning him the director’s chair for the next film in the series (the non-Prometheus series since that apparently has NOTHING to do with Alien). Well, he released the latest image above on Instagram and added in that he loves the project, which can’t be much of a surprise.
You don’t just go into concept art for a film that may never be made without having a little passion for it (look at Jodorowsky’s Dune). We’ve gotten so many details for it up to this point that it’s actually a surprise that the film is only now beginning production. We know where it falls in the line of the original Alien films, how it will affect what we’ll see in Prometheus 2 (2Metheus), and will most likely start a new series of films to add to the franchise.
Hopefully this is the start of some new little treats from Blomkamp heading up to the premiere of the film. Given what we’ve seen from him in the past and the trends with other films, like Bryan Singer with X-Men, that could very well be the case.
