In July, we reported on the death of Amanda Peterson, an actress who was at the height of her fame in the ’80s and early ’90s, and is probably best known for her role in the teenage romantic comedy Can’t Buy Me Love. Peterson hadn’t acted since 1994’s Windrunner and now toxicology reports are showing just how troubled the former actress was.
Peterson’s body was found in her Colorado apartment on July 5, with heavy doses of morphine contributing to her demise. Morphine wasn’t the only substance found in her system, though. Toxicology reports show that she also had anti-anxiety and antidepressants in her system, as well as opiates and marijuana. One of the pain meds that was in her system is being reported at six times the normal dosage.
Peterson had problems with drug abuse for quite some time. She was arrested on drug and alcohol related charges at least four times in her hometown in Colorado, with her latest incident with the law occurring in May 2012. As far as all the drugs that were found in her system at the time of death, coroners are convinced that it was the morphine that caused respiratory failure, ultimately leading to her death.
