Don’t get me wrong — I love the Mortal Kombat movie. Sure, it was a cheap ploy to capitalize on a successful (and controversial) violent video game at the time, but it was still really fun to watch. Especially for those of us who either (a) weren’t allowed purchase the game for home use, or (b) had to select “Spit Mode” whenever the ‘rents were around.
According to YouTuber J. Matthew Turner, however, all the finishing move-induced excitement immediately dissipates once you realize that it’s basically the same film as Bruce Lee’s 1973 classic Enter the Dragon. Plot point by plot point, Turner breaks down the significant similarities between the two in the short one minute video above. I mean, except for all that magic stuff and the dude with four arms, but yeah.
