Put away the ball gag and get your sentient silverware into storage. There’s a brand new trailer views champ in town and it’s for a film that will meld intense emotional drama with some crazy looking sh*t involving a tank and dozens of cars getting smashed up.
The trailer for F. Gary Gray’s entry into the Fast & Furious franchise arrived a few days back and the early peek shattered Beauty and the Beast‘s record for most views in its first 24 hours. Disney’s live action update set the (formerly) new mark with a 127.6 million first-day total, but Deadline reports that F8 busted through that amount like The Rock flexing off a cast and ended its first 24 hours with a ridiculous 139 million views. We haven’t checked just yet, but that’s probably more than Monster Trucks is bringing to the table even if both projects seem equally silly. (In a good way, mind you. Heck, a crossover film would be incredible.)
It’s not hard to understand why F8 did enormous numbers off the hop. Last year, Furious 7 was the fastest (VRRRROOOOM) film to reach one billion dollars at the box office. It’s possible the bulk of those views are for that less-than-elegant Charlize Theron on Vin Diesel makeout session, but we reckon it’s more for the fiery explosions and syndicated action TV contraptions. The Fate of the Furious hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
