An Oscar-weekend tradition unlike any other, the 36th Annual Razzies were handed out Saturday night, honoring the worst of the worst in movies for 2015. This year, Fifty Shades of Grey and the ill-fated Fantastic Four reboot cleaned up, sharing Worst Picture honors and together claiming a whopping six other (dis)honors. Fifty Shades took home Worst Actor (Jamie Dornan), Worst Actress (Dakota Johnson), Worst Screenplay, and Worst Onscreen Combo.
At least that movie made a truckload of cash to go with its Razzies. The same can’t be said for mega-bomb Fantastic Four, which took home Worst Director for Josh Trank, who famously, publicly dumped all over the movie as part of a torrent of awful publicity for the comic book flick. Fantastic Four also claimed Worst Remake.
Elsewhere, Eddie Redmayne, who won a Best Actor Oscar last year and is nominated for the same award Sunday night, got sent the opposite route with a Worst Supporting Actor nod for the Wachowski’s dud Jupiter Ascending. And Kaley Cuoco may want to stick to TV after being crowned Worst Supporting Actress for her roles in The Wedding Ringer and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip.
And then there’s Sly Stallone. Widely expected to take home Best Supporting Actor in Sunday night, he claimed the Razzies Redeemer award, which gives credit where credit is due to actors with long, storied histories of winning Razzies only to work things out acting-wise, as Stallone most certainly did with Creed.
Maybe Adam Sandler, mysteriously robbed of any Razzies this year despite a double-whammy of crap with both Pixels and The Cobbler coming out last year, can learn something from Sly and get himself a Redeemer one of these years too. Here’s the full list of “winners”:
