Flight of the Conchords, although it didn’t last very long, was one of the funniest shows to ever grace HBO. Now, the New Zealand duo of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement have all but announced that they’re coming back in a big way. In a new interview with Consequence of Sound, Clement discussed how his work on Steven Spielberg’s BFG derailed for a time the duo’s return to the stage.
“We were planning on doing it this summer, but then I ended up doing The BFG instead,” Clement said. “So it’s my fault we didn’t do it this time. But we are hoping to announce a tour. We’ll announce it before the end of the year, hopefully, and then some time next year get on the road … after we get some new guitar strings and that sort of thing.”
Clement also spoke to Indiewire recently and talked about a Flight of the Conchords film that is in the pre-production phase. There’s currently no timeframe for the film, but Clement noted that they’re in the process of writing it. Here’s hoping that we get a Conchords film sooner than later.
