As always, Hollywood blockbuster-producing android Simon Kinberg has his silicon-alloy fingers in a lot of pies, and Slashfilm recently tried to get some updates on a few of them. Kinberg didn’t have much to say about his upcoming Star Wars Anthology film, but he was more forthcoming about the X-Men cinematic universe, which he’s largely in charge of.
Kinberg offered up some optimism on the Channing Tatum-led Gambit, and tried to explain the film’s delays…
“The truth is when you have these movies that need a very special and unique tone, it takes a little while to find that tone. Deadpool felt like it exploded out of nowhere but it was a ten-year development process on that movie. I hope that Gambit doesn’t take ten years, but it takes a little honing to get that tone and that voice exactly right. Really it’s just about getting a screenplay that is worthy of that character and I think we’re really close right now.”
Kinberg also shot down a few rumors surrounding the casting of Cable in the next Deadpool movie.
“I’ve seen rumors from about everybody from Arnold Schwarzenegger to I can’t even remember. We haven’t cast him is the truth.”
Keep a watch on your phone, Keira Knightley! Kinberg also said he’s formulating ideas for the next core X-Men film. Considering how the last one turned out, hopefully he gives his plot processors time to work.
