Every time there’s a new tidbit regarding the better-late-than-never and seriously overdue sequel to Blade Runner, the consensus seems to be, “They’re still talking about that?” After all, Ridley Scott is 77 years old and has a pretty full film plate, and Harrison Ford is 72 and recovering from injuries on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and that golf course plane crash. It really comes down to Ford, though, because Scott has claimed that the script is done and Denis Villeneuve is set to direct, so Scott can basically sit back and let someone else do the dirty work while he doodles more ideas for Prometheus 2: Even More Ripped White Alien Bros.
The good news for people who think this is an iffy idea is that Alcon Entertainment is trying to add some serious star power to presumably carry the acting burden. According to TheWrap, everyone’s favorite lovable Canadian, Ryan Gosling, is “in negotiations” to star alongside Ford, although we have no clue what his role would be. This is also coming from Alcon, so take it with a grain of salt because it’s pretty ballsy to announce that Baby Goose is in negotiations, being that he could just as easily say, “Hey, girl. I’d love to go blading with you, but you’re not wearing a helmet and knee pads. Safety first.”
Blade Runner 2 is set to start shooting in 2016.
