Jon Bernthal And Tom Holland Teamed Up To Help Each Other Audition For Their Marvel Roles

The Marvel universe is gigantic. But it’s also small enough for two actors playing characters in completely different projects to come together and give each other a hand in the name of the greater cause.

Such was the case for Jon Bernthal, soon to be seen as The Punisher in the next season of Netflix’s Daredevil, and Tom Noonan, the latest Spider-Man who was just seen for the first time in this past week’s release of the latest Captain America: Civil War trailer. The two are co-starring in the upcoming Pilgrimage, an adventure flick about 13th century monks on a dangerous quest and while on location in Ireland, they helped each other make audition tapes for their iconic Marvel characters.

“We were making tapes from Ireland in the process of getting him cast in Spider-Man and then he and I made a tape for The Punisher,” Bernthal told the New York Daily News. “During this independent movie that we did in Ireland we were constantly making tapes for Marvel — just acting together.”

Clearly, Marvel was impressed by the duo’s teamwork by virtue of the fact both wound up cast. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn even tweeted that Noonan looks like “the best Spidey/Peter Parker ever by a country mile.”

No word on how Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield feel about that assessment but it’s probable neither had Bernthal helping them prep audition tapes.
