Possibly the next hottest Back-to-School item.
Collider took part in a roundtable interview with Mark Wahlberg about his upcoming film The Gambler, and someone asked him for an update to the news that he’s going to be the next Six Billion Dollar Man:
We’re talking about doing Six Billion Dollar Man, which is very much a superhero, but I don’t have to wear any kind of spandex cape. So that would be cool. Howard Gordon is writing the script and people are talking about doing it, but we got a great, great idea and it’s something that’s been in the pipeline for quite some time, so hopefully if we get the script right maybe we’ll make it after we do the Deep Water Horizon.
Deep Water Horizon is Wahlberg’s project about golf. No, wait. It’s about the Deep Water Horizon explosion.
The Weinstein Company’s Dimension Films is going to be producing The Six Billion Dollar Man, which they hope to shoot in 2015 and release in 2016. But in addition to the Deep Water Horizon project, Wahlberg’s also doing Daddy’s Home with Will Ferrell, so it might be a busy year for him.
This is the first time a writer has been attached to the project. Howard Gordon is the co-creator of Homeland and Tyrant. Peter Berg is attached to direct.
The full interview is at Collider.
I can’t read any of his answers without picturing Dirk Diggler telling me about his process. If you can, you’re a better person than I.
