According to the Hollywood Reporter, Michael Keaton is making a return to comic books with his next film. No, it’s not Batman, obviously. It’s not even a superhero. Keaton is set to produce and star in Imagine Agents, an adaptation of the BOOM! comic series of the same name. THR provides some plot details, if you’re not familiar, and also gives us a glimpse at who Keaton is most likely playing:
Created by writer Brian Joines and artist Bachan, the story tackles the idea that the imaginary friends of children are actually very real and centers on an organization titled I.M.A.G.I.N.E., which handles things when these figments get out of control.
In Men In Black fashion, the comic tells of a jaded 20-year veteran agent who must mentor a young archivist, with a routine day becoming something much larger. The first issue came out in October 2013.
Keaton is certainly a vet, especially to the comic book scene, so it’s a good role (I guess). I like to think his recent actions at the Pirates game in Atlanta helped land him the place with the movie. Lecturing young men on the ways of heroics and the right path of the world. Sounds like a good time.
