The week after Labor Day weekend 2016 is proving to be one of the darkest in American history. Not because Donald Trump’s poll numbers have improved, nor due to the ongoing Roger Ailes fallout at cable news behemoth Fox News, but all because of Miles Teller’s decision to abandon his newfound blondness. That’s right, folks — the actor’s short tenure as a member of the blonde community is no more. Not only that, but he’s also offered his Twitter followers an apology for the dyed ‘do.
“Dear Internet, I’m sorry I dyed my hair blonde. I never meant to hurt you,” Teller tweeted Tuesday evening. “Please accept this apology.” Along with the salutations, the War Dogs star also offered social media an awkward selfie taken during a visit to the hairstylist.

Teller first sported his blonde locks at the 2016 ESPY Awards in July. Weeks later, when the filmmakers behind the Divergent series announced the troubled franchise would conclude on television, Teller let slip the reasoning behind the highlights. Simply put, it was for a movie:
“I’m doing a movie right now about the Granite Mountain Hotshots. They were involved in the Yarnell Hill Fire incident three years ago where 19 of the 20 firefighters passed away. I’m playing the lone survivor and he’s got blonde hair so I said, ‘Yeah, let’s do it.'”
Teller’s blonde hair, your time on this Earth was far too short. So let’s remember the good times we had, like your revelation at the ESPYs:
