After three years of insane popularity, the Hunger Games saga finally comes to a close on Nov. 20 with Mockingjay: Part 2 (at least until Lionsgate finds some way to extend the franchise). Some new TV spots and stills from the film were released by Lionsgate, and things look to be on the upswing after a slightly disappointing last film. There was a lot of sitting around talking about what to do about Peeta and not nearly enough of Jena Malone’s scene-stealing Johanna Mason, and it looks like both of those issues have been remedied in the final film.
Mockingjay was definitely the most polarizing of the novels, and many were disappointed by some of the choices that author Suzanne Collins made. However, the story is an emotional one without easy answers, and is sure to have some thrilling action sequences, as well. The marketing for the final film has done a good job of highlighting the central relationship of the story, that of Katniss and her sister Prim, so hopefully the true message of the story won’t get lost in the violence and thin love triangle. Either way, Jennifer Lawrence is sure to turn in a great performance, and we’ll say goodbye to a truly iconic character.
Check out the new images from the film, featuring Foggy Nelson, Natalie Dormer styled in a way that the Queen of Thorns would never approve of, and Josh Hutcherson pondering his post-Peeta career prospects.
