In 2015, Andy Samberg made a sports mockumentary for HBO about tennis called 7 Days in Hell. It involved a lot of appearances from actual athletes, but it was also pretty weird, like most Samberg projects. Now, he has another sports mockumentary in the works for HBO, and Orlando Bloom has joined the cast.
This time around, competitive cycling is the sport being spoofed. The project is called Tour de Pharmacy, which clearly indicates that the abundance of doping and performance-enhancing drug accusations, and convictions, that have plagued the sport will be involved, perhaps prominently. One is left to wonder if Lance Armstrong, the most infamous of the busted cyclists, will make a cameo in the film.
In 7 Days in Hell, Samberg starred opposite another handsome British actor in Kit Harrington, so perhaps, this time, it will be Samberg and Bloom at the forefront. Also in the cast are Hamilton’s Daveed Diggs, Will Forte, who was also in Samberg’s tennis spoof, Dolph Lundgren, John Cena, Nathan Fielder, and… Mike Tyson.
Keep an eye out for Tour de Pharmacy. It will likely be fairly similar to 7 Days in Hell, so if you enjoyed that, you will almost assuredly enjoy this new project. If nothing else, it will be interesting to see Bloom, who is best known for the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises, in what should be a strange comedy.
