Director Paul Feig has been having a helluva time with his Ghostbusters-themed tweets and tailor-made hashtags. First, he previewed the new outfits that stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon would sport when the team finally comes together. Then, he gave everyone a glimpse of what the new proton packs would look like.
Tuesday night, Feig turned things up to 11 when he tweeted out the first image of the Ecto-1, the team’s coveted vehicle from Ghostbusters 1 & 2. In the original two films, it was a custom 1959 Cadillac professional ambulance. Feig’s version, like the film, is slightly upgraded (by a few years):

When a fan asked Feig to see a shot of the back of the famous car, the director obliged:

A quick skim of the retweets, quoted tweets, subtweets and @ mentions reveals equal praise and condemnation for Feig’s vehicular reveal. Then again, this kind of thing tends to happen when people with twitchy fingers, keyboard access and way too much free time have nothing better to do.
Others worry that Feig’s apparent perpetual motion machine of social media revelations will spoil the entire movie before it’s finished. Then again, we won’t know until the movie is finished and out in theaters, will we?
