We’re still eight months away from seeing the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers back on the big screen, but Saban knows how to whet our appetite by giving us a glimpse of the heroes behind the helmets. Power Rangers recently released a series of five character posters exclusively for 2016’s San Diego Comic-Con. The posters show each of the five main characters with their respective ranger colors, looking serious and ready for business.
There has been a lot of anticipation around this film ever since it was first announced. We recently found out Bryan Cranston is returning to the Power Rangers as the head of Zordon. I say returning because Cranston has a history of voice acting for the Power Rangers, voicing Twin-Man and Snizard in the 1993 TV show. And Elizabeth Banks has been impressing fans with her turn as a less-coneheaded Rita Repulsa, as well as the rangers themselves. Becky G, who plays Yellow Ranger Trini, gushed to Entertainment Weekly about getting to shoot a major action scene with Banks.
“It was a bit intimidating for me because, you know, it’s Elizabeth! I look up to her a lot as an actress, so getting to work one on one with her is really cool. I learned a lot, and there were moments when I had to hit her, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I hope I don’t actually hit her!’ She really let me be hands on in a lot of the fighting, so it was cool,” Becky G said.
Becky G said shooting is winding down for Power Rangers, apart from some reshoots, but the rangers haven’t entirely gone their separate ways. She mentioned that she and the other rangers have a special WhatsApp group chat that they use to stay in touch as they prepare for San Diego Comic-Con. Power Rangers is set to come out March 24, 2o17.
