Ron Perlman chatted with Variety to promote his new Amazon show, Hand of God. The veteran actor spoke about several of his upcoming projects, but he knows what everyone really wants to talk about is Hellboy 3.
Perlman appears bemused when asked about his recent tweet asking for public support for another film. He expresses genuine surprise that “a little goof” of a tweet landed him 20,000 new followers: “I found out I hit a nerve that I didn’t even know was a nerve.” Yet he’s thrilled at how fans would love to see an official end to the trilogy.
The journo presses Perlman until he admits to “intermittently” hearing from Guillermo del Toro. Then Perlman drops the term “mind-blowing” thrice, so you know he means business:
“I haven’t heard from him since I started this latest round of insanity. It’s in Guillermo’s head. And he’s shared enough of it with me to know that it will be mind-blowing. I mean it will be mind-blowing. It will be great cinema. And if you are somebody who followed the first two movies, it will be even more mind-blowing because we have something…if you liked the first one and the second one, we have something really rock ’em, shock ’em in the third one.”
Perlman has revealed the precise amount of information necessary to let fans know Hellboy 3 should happen. Will it happen? He believes the fans deserve to know whether the character “lives up to” or “has to suppress” his destiny. Perlman was “in Monte Carlo, working on my suntan” during this interview, so let’s take that as a good sign.
