After taking a few years off acting to direct Lost River and be a dad, it seems that Ryan Gosling is finally returning to us. He’s also dropping some good news left and right, confirming that he is indeed starring alongside Harrison Ford in the upcoming Blade Runner sequel.
While doing the publicity rounds for The Big Short, Gosling took a little bit of time out of an interview with Collider to confirm that yes, he is involved, but that the details were sparse. He stated that it is the next film that he’s shooting, but “there’s a chip in me and if I say anything more, I’ll explode if I say anything else.”
Blade Runner 2 will be directed by Sicario‘s Denis Villeneuve, and Roger Deakins is also aboard as cinematographer. Gosling made it clear in the Collider interview that working with these two was part of the appeal of the project and why he agreed to sign on. Ridley Scott is still deeply involved in the project, and seems to be optimistic about what’s to come.
While the involvement of The Gos is exciting, the real draw is whether or not they will put the “Is Deckard a replicant?” debate to bed once and for all. (He totally is.)
