Spider-Man returning to Marvel has been rumored for a while. And Latino Review got our hopes up by reporting that the Spidey deal had gone through and we’d see Spider-Man in Avengers: Infinity War. Then somebody had to ruin it by actually doing some fact-checking.
We’ll let Comic Book Resources sum it up:
When reached by CBR News, a Sony Pictures representative dismissed the report, calling it an “old rumor” with “no validity whatsoever.”

Still, it’s not worth ruling out entirely. Fox and Marvel begrudgingly share two characters, and it’s not out of the realm of possibility Marvel might, for example, cut a deal with Sony to put Miles Morales on screen at some point.
The biggest roadblock here is the fact that Spidey is, far and away, the single most profitable character in comics. Marvel sells piles of Spidey-merch and as far as Disney is concerned, Sony is just marketing that merch for them on spec. It’s the perfect scenario for them; they make money and somebody else pays the costs. As long as Sony can turn out a Spidey movie that people at least go see, Disney’s likely happy to keep him there.
