Southpaw is the forthcoming drama starring a beefy Jake Gyllenhaal as Billy Hope, a successful boxer whose life is turned upside down after a family tragedy involving his wife (played by Rachel McAdams). While the initial trailer highlighted Hope’s breakdown (including a scene of him punching a mirror, because that’s what all struggling boxing pros do apparently), this latest clip offers a few more looks at his road to redemption, but more importantly: Gyllenhaal’s insane abs.
Director Antoine Fuqua is at the helm of Southpaw, while Richard Wenk and Sons of Anarchy’s Kurt Sutter provided the script. Eminem, who was originally pegged to star in the film, contributed music, such as new single “Phenomenal”, to the soundtrack. The film, which also stars Forest Whitaker, 50 Cent, and Rita Ora, opens in theaters on July 24th.
