In case you needed an additional reminder that superhero movies are responsible for 40% of the U.S. economy (guesstimate!), we have another blockbuster comic book adventure remarkably close to invading our multiplexes. Er, well, after the other blockbuster comic book adventure rolls through a few weeks earlier.
X-Men: Apocalypse is marching its way towards a Memorial Day Weekend release and that means the traditional preview drizzle as promo ramps up. If you’ll crane your neck skywards to the top of this post, you’ll see an early clip released from the film. Light on action, but heavy on details on the guy that’ll bring some action, this sub-minute chunklet has Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) explain to Professor X (James McAvoy) and Havok (Lucas Till) why the film’s titular villain is definitely a bad dude.
The video is a smidge on the exposition side (it can’t be all SNIKT SNIKT), but that allows for casual fans to get some quick details on Apocalypse going into the movie. There’s mention of the baddie’s history, the Four Horseman get acknowledged, and you get to enjoy some excellent period-specific coiffure. It’s a well-rounded learning experience is what it is.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be arriving in U.S. theaters on May 27. Why not brush up on X-Men and their history with costumes while you wait? Eat some Gushers if you like.
