Poor Cyclops. The leader of the X-Men hasn’t been treated particularly well on-screen, often getting shunted to the background, and dying an unceremonious death in X-Men: The Last Stand. I mean, a lot of bad things happened in X-Men 3, but Cyclops’ death was among the worst. Well, the eye beam-blasting mutant is back in X-Men: Apocalypse, and with luck, he’ll finally get some time in the spotlight. At least we know he won’t die this time, as new Cyclops Tye Sheridan has already signed on for two more movies.
The latest clip from X-Men: Apocalypse gives us a glimpse Cyclops/Scott Summers’ mutant awakening, and frankly, it’s a bit mortifying. After being caught checking out a girl in history class, Scott starts having funny, new feelings, so he awkwardly excuses himself, runs to the bathroom, then has an embarrassing explosion while sitting on the toilet. Hey pal, it’s okay, most guys have been there. It’s perfectly natural! Well, minus the room-demolishing eye lasers. That’s a new twist.
Early reviews for X-Men: Apocalypse are rolling in, and they aren’t exactly overly enthusiastic, but a lot of them have nice things to say about Tye Sheridan, so again, this latest adventure might be worth it for Cyclops fans. X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27.
