Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a magical place, despite being created by a bunch of filthy muggles. It’s a theme park that truly encapsulates the wondrous universe that J.K. Rowling created with an amazing attention to detail that transports fans from balmy Orlando to Hogwarts in the blink of chocolate frog. How can you not love visiting snowy Hogsmead and downing a butter beer whenever your credit card and vacation time allows you?
But still, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is still just a theme park, albeit a fantastic one. What can bring it to the next level? Real events from the Harry Potter universe that we can all take part in, as long as we procure a ticket.
The Orlando Informer reported on a survey sent to Harry Potter park-goers to gauge their interest on holiday-themed events that would take place specifically around December. Now that these simple-yet-genius ideas are down on paper, it makes me think that they should’ve been part of the Wizarding World from the start. Here’s what Universal is thinking of adding:
- A nighttime show at Hogwarts Castle using 3D projection, lights, and more (included with park admission)
- Holiday party in both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley on select nights in December, including delicious holiday treats and beverages (separately ticketed event)
- Yule Ball and Great Dance Hall Dinner – “guests wear dress robes and dine/dance at a festive holiday Yule Ball with themed music, dancing, food and beverages.” (separately ticketed event)
- Special holiday performances by the Frog Choir, London Street Buskers, and other holiday themed surprises in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
This can be you. Awkward teen angst and fluctuating hormones optional.
