I suppose when you invite a performance artist like Lady Gaga onto your talk show, you have to be prepared for the interview to be weird and awkward, and last night’s interview of Lady Gaga by David Letterman was all kinds of weird and awkward. I was watching it in an aisle seat on a plane last night, as was the guy in the guy in the window seat next to me, and at one point the guy in the window seat looked over at me and said, “They both seem like they’d rather be undergoing a lobotomy right now.” That seemed about right.
Regardless, the highlight of the whole thing was a moment where Gaga, seemingly bored out of her mind, reached over and grabbed a page from Letterman’s interview notes, ripped it in half, stated, “I’m just so fed up with all of it,” shoved it in her mouth and began to chew it up. She later spit it all out behind the sofa. These are the things one does these days when one has a record to sell these days, I suppose.
