Zach Galifianakis and Fiona Apple have been good friends for some time. You may know that the two co-starred in the 2009 video for Apple’s “Not About Love.” But did you know that years ago, in 2006, before Galifianakis became more of a household name, the two recorded a comedic hip-hop track together titled, “Come Over and Get It (Up in ‘Dem Guts).” Well they did!
The song popped up on the web in 2008, when Galifianakis was beginning to become more widely known, but it’s now been “rediscovered” now that he’s one of the hugest comedy stars in the country. About the song, Stereogum jokingly billed it at the time as an “ultra-danceable track” and, as LA Weekly now notes, it “features Apple as ‘Clarice’, a woman seeking ‘some of that sweet love’ from ‘Alan Finger’, a character Galifianakis played in the short-lived, documentary style sitcom Dog Bites Man that aired on Comedy Central. You can listen to it after the jump, as sadly there appears to be no video for it.
And here’s the two in Apple’s “Not About Love” video…
And here they are interviewing each other on Galifianakis’ sofa in 2010…
