He may not have feathered hair or drive a Trans Am T-top with a giant eagle on the hood, but Ryan Adams can definitely nail an 80s cover when he wants to. The super serious singer who stole Mandy Moore away from the world was a guest on NPR’s World Café earlier this month to promote his latest self-titled LP, and he delivered an extra special gift with a cover of the 1984 Foreigner hit “I Want To Know What Love Is.” Fortunately, Stereogum found a copy of that performance on YouTube, and while a random cover song is hardly news by itself, Adams did a pretty killer job on this one. (And I say that as someone who holds a childish grudge against him for that whole Mandy Moore thing.)
Also, this is therapeutic for anyone who is still upset that Hot Pockets destroyed “Hot Blooded” for its latest commercials.
