If you haven’t already seen Sia’s new video for her single “Elastic Heart,” you might not know what she could be apologizing for. If you knew that the video co-starred Actual Cannibal Shia LeBeouf, maybe you think she’s apologizing for that. But if you knew that LeBeouf was actually breakdance-fighting with the very young dancer from Sia’s “Chandelier” video, Maddie Ziegler, maybe that warrants an inquiring side-eye. There really isn’t anything sexually suggestive about their choreographed cage battle, but the image of a 28-year-old actor engaging in anything with a 12-year-old girl might strike some as having undertones of pedophilia. According to Sia, she was staging an emotional battle with both LeBeouf and Ziegler playing representations of herself, as Ziegler did in “Chandelier.”
But she knew that a misunderstanding was coming:

People will always draw their own conclusions on art which is what makes art so fun. But I think this video only qualifies as actual dirt filth and not exploitative filth.
