To all the fans who waited in line for the concert that never happened, you knew this was coming. Jimmy Fallon joined Bono on stage Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden for a rendition of U2’s single, “Desire.” Fallon, who was in the crowd holding a sign that read, “Singer with a broken finger,” was invited by Bono to join the group on stage for a song.
Making light of his recent hand injury as he took the stage, he joked, “I’m afraid of Irish men that fall down and injure themselves.” He performed while wearing Bono’s signature-style sunglasses and eventually pulled out a harmonica, saying, “It’s not easy being Bono.”
But wait… there’s more.
After the song ended, The Roots joined U2 and Fallon on stage to sing the band’s most New York song ever, “Angel of Harlem.”
Stars who attended night three of U2’s eight-night run at the Garden included Alicia Keys, Christy Turlington and Nile Rodgers, who, along with Fallon and U2, shared candid moments from the special night on Instagram.

And if Instagram were a competition (which it is), Questlove would be the winner here, with his earnest post to U2 sharing for the first time how their music soundtracked a poignant moment in life, getting pulled over and held at gunpoint:
When you get pulled over in a hostile manner you are NOT in your right mind: like giving a speech, or being a nervous contestant on the Price Is Right. Why?! —the only thing I remember was #TheEdge’s trademark delay plug in. I was so scared to turn the tape down (member when Chapelle said black people turn radio off when getting pulled over cause noone wants to get their ass beat to a soundtrack?)—they were itching for us to try something. I hated the guilt of just being me. Nothing more degrading in life than the helplessness you feel when you get pulled over.
The Roots drummer closed out the post by thanking the band for inviting him to perform and giving him “a new beginning experiencing @U2.” Awwwwww.
Paul McCartney was also at the show, but apparently isn’t a big fan of the Twitter or the one with the pictures, so he played it cool and declined to share.
