It’s official. We’ve reached peak reunion. Chris Cornell made a point of saying that he’s open to an Audioslave reunion in a recent interview, meaning we’ve exhausted our nostalgia resources and have started the long, slow decline where even side projects are playing tracks from their heyday for fast cash.
At least it seems like the reunion would create new music. Via the interview with Total Guitar:
“I think it would be great.We did a lot of songs [before the split], and with the benefit of not having done anything with those guys for so long, I can’t imagine what it would be. It would be a really amazing experience just to get back and work with the same guys again… They were great guys, and I really enjoyed the experience that I had with them, so yeah, I would always be open to doing something.”
They definitely have a head-start on a new album for all the “Like a Stone” fans out there.
“We were certainly a prolific group of people; we wrote three whole albums in around five years, maybe less. And these were albums that were raw, and we had extra material, and we just never seemed to have trouble ever trying to agree on what would come out of the songs.”
This isn’t exactly outside of Cornell’s M.O. His band Soundgarden reunited in 2010 and produced a pretty decent album called King Animal.
