Some musicians’ kids end up following in their parent’s footsteps, but the results are typically mixed; not everyone can be Jakob Dylan and start a band like The Wallflowers or Miley Cyrus and do whatever it is she’s doing now with The Flaming Lips.
Jakob Armstrong, son of Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong, is a solo artist going by the name of Jakob Danger. And, to be honest, the 16-year-old is making some great music. With hints of Wavves, FIDLAR, Cloud Nothings, and obviously his dad’s band, Danger creates a fun brand of pop punk that is better than most recent Green Day songs. The teenager recently signed to Burger Records, who will release his debut EP on cassette tape soon.

Jakob isn’t the only family member following in dad’s footsteps; his older brother Joey is the drummer for Bay Area punk band Swmrs, another Burger Records band. If Jakob Danger’s SoundCloud bio is any indication of what’s to come from the 16-year-old, “more is always on the way.” Listen to some of Danger’s tracks below.
