Top Dawg Entertainment revealed the release date for Ab-Soul’s long-awaited These Days… follow-up DWTW. The label that also houses perrennial rap-album-of-the-year contenders Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q shared on Twitter that Soul’s album is dropping this Friday, December 9.

In addition to the release date news, TDE shared a new single from the album called “Threatening Nature.” Check that out below:

“Nature” is our third taste of the album following the blistering, political track “Huey Knew” and the Bas-featuring “Braille.” You know 2016 has been a garbage year when TDE’s resident third-eye-opening stoner is getting heavy with the politics, but judging by what we’ve heard so far (and that decidedly stressed cover art) we should expect more of the same from Soulo come Friday.

Ab-Soul’s release date is the latest proof that rappers simply do not give a damn about being included in year-end albums lists. This month alone has already seen a release from Childish Gambino, will probably feature something from Drake and will definitely include a new album from J. Cole that drops on the same day as Ab-Soul’s album. If Decembers are supposed to be quite — and they are, that’s why so many year-end lists are already out in the world — nobody bothered to tell your favorite MCs.
