AC/DC recently played a show at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. The Cubbies, currently fighting for a spot in the National League playoffs, are not happy with the band. And no, it’s not because they didn’t play “Thunderstruck.” Cubs manager Joe Maddon is upset because the band ruined the field.

“Since the AC/DC concert we’ve had a little bit of trouble,” Maddon said after the Cubs’ 9-5 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. “I don’t know if they [the band] were out there taking ground balls in 9-inch heels.”

That last line? That’s what folks in the baseball call a joke.

“They totally messed up our infield,” Maddon said. “I’ve seen a bad hop at third, a bad hop at second. Prior to that I’ve not seen one bad hop all year.”

Man, talk about a dirty deed, huh?

Now that’s a joke, Joe Maddon.

But in all seriousness, I hope you’re happy, AC/DC. You had to go and rock so hard that your fans tore up the infield, a move that could cost the Cubs as they head into the homestretch. You had them stomping and fist-pumping and singing along to “Back in Black,” all while carelessly ignoring the damage you were causing to the venue. Rule No. 1 guys, even in Australia, is that you always try to leave a place in the same or better condition than how you found it.

The Cubs were forced to rip up the outfield grass, replacing it with new sod, something that players have expressed concerns about.

“Infield is OK,” Starlin Castro, an infielder for the Cubs said. “The grass on the outfield is bad. … It’s not even. Some long, some short. It’s not what it used to be.”

Not what it used to be, huh? Seems like we could say the same thing about AC/DC. Well at least I’m not alone in not being a fan of the band.
