If you’re a fan of hip-hop and/or electronic music, the BUKU Music + Art Project — more commonly referenced as “BUKU Fest” — is a music festival that needs to be on your radar. Set on the banks of the Mississippi River in New Orleans in March, it makes for a great weekend and the lineups are usually pretty damn stellar. This year’s initial lineup, which was announced today, is no exception, and we’re told that 8-12 more acts are likely to be added later. Here’s are some of the notable names confirmed so far: deadmau5, Travis Scott, Zeds Dead, Young Thug, ZHU, Tycho, Jauz, 21 Savage, Sleigh Bells, Vince Staples, Nina Kraviz, Lil Dicky, TroyBoi, Lil Yachty, Washed Out, Malaa, Slushii, Alina Baraz, Thundercat, Lido, Clams Casino, Rezz, $uicideboy$, The Floozies, Car Seat Headrest, Big Wild, Amine, San Holo, Opiuo, Lane 8, Sophie, Nora En Pure, Kaiydo, Whethan, Oshi, and Ambre.
“(Deadmau5) is a major large festival headliner, and we’re a boutique, niche festival, so to finally land him is someone I think we’ve been chasing since we started, or at least since the second year,” Buku co-founder Dante DiPasquale told NOLA.com. “It was a lot of fun, and it’s perfect timing. He just came out with an album on Friday … and to have in such a small environment will be pretty special. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.”
Tickets for BUKU fest go on sale this week.
