Boy George and his reunited Culture Club performed at L.A.’s Greek Theater on Friday night. The band arranged for a very special surprise guest, Caityn Jenner, to introduce their act. Fans of the 1980s pop band gave a standing ovation to Jenner, who was pleased at the reception:
“Thank you very much! Thank you! Caitlyn Jenner in the house for her first Boy George concert!” Jenner said. “This is going to be a good group. Thank you so much. Enough about me. Thank you for being here tonight This is so much fun for me and let’s hear it here at the Greek Theatre for Boy George!”
A witness revealed how the standing ovation happened organically: “People gradually started screaming and clapping, rising to their feet when they recognized it was her.” Upon taking the stage, the band immediately launched into 1983’s “Church of the Poisoned Mind.” Boy George later took a moment (before singing “It’s A Miracle”) to praise his friend: “I expected a standing ovation for her and I wasn’t disappointed. We need to celebrate the kinds of changes that are happening.”
